PS3 and freeing Disk space?

My son has a 40GB so he can play PS2 games. I bought PS3 Ratchett and Clank but it says not enough disk space. Ive done the obvious and deleted saved games but still no luck. What shall I try next as I now have a very FRUSTRATED LITTLE BOY !!!!!!
