Do boards such as GWS and Social Science encourage the rise of the 'reflexive self'?

I'm set in a lot of ways, but I'm open to other opinions on many topics. If I've formed an opinion on something, it takes a lot to change my mind. I bring up the thumbs up and down sometimes when I don't understand why people pick the way they do, but I don't usually worry about them unless somebody who says something like "I hate men" or "I hate women" gets a lot of thumbs up. Then I'll start to worry.
